As long as you use the driveway, it is constantly getting dirty with oil stains, mud and dirt. If you use a pressure washer, you can clean your driveway very easily. You may rent a pressure washer from your neighbourhood hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe’s instead of purchasing one on your own. Follow these steps in order thoroughly clean your driveway using this easy, and incredibly effective method!
1. Make sure there is nothing on the driveway.
Get rid of any cars, bikes, kid’s toys, and briskly sweep away dirt or stone on the driveway before starting driveway cleaning. If you use cardboard or a tarp, you can protect doors or walls from any debris when you wash the driveway with a pressure washer. You should check which high direction water goes during using a pressure washer. You should also make sure the water flow does not enter your lawn in order to prevent the water (which is filled with chemicals if that is the solution you choose to use) from going to your water supply.
2. Add a degreaser on for stubborn oil stains
Before you start to wash the driveway with the pressure washer, you should apply a degreaser directly to the oil stains and let it sit, so they can begin to break down and be easily washed away with the pressure washer.
3. Prepare the pressure washer
Read the instructions before you start to use the pressure washer, because every pressure washer has different and unique methods of use. The pressure washer usually has two types of nozzles: low pressure and high pressure nozzles. When cleaning a brick driveway, avoid the use of high pressure nozzles.
4. Spread the detergent on the driveway
If you read the instructions, it will tell you which detergent you should use. Spread the detergent with a low nozzle from a high place/far distance in order to make the water flow to a low direction. Put the detergent on the driveway for 15 minutes, ensuring the driveway is wet.
5. Clean up the driveway with a high pressure nozzle.
After 15 minutes, wash the detergent with a high pressure nozzle to blast away tough dirt and stains.
